The story behind our ducks
We have found a unique way to spread joy and make lasting connections. Over the past 15 years, we've embarked on 95 cruises, (about to leave on #96) creating countless memories and meeting wonderful people from all around the world. Our love for the ocean and our amazing experiences on these voyages have become a significant part of our lives.
One day, while waiting near the ship's elevator, we noticed a small child laughing with delight at a yellow rubber duck sitting on the floor. That simple, joyful moment sparked an idea to transform our cruising adventures into something even more special. We realized that such a small item could bring so much happiness to someone, and we wanted to share that joy with others.
Inspired by the happiness the rubber duck brought to the child, we decided to start carrying rubber ducks on all our cruises. We began handing out these small, cheerful tokens to fellow passengers and crew members, spreading smiles and forging connections with people from all walks of life. Our gesture was simple, yet it resonated deeply with everyone we encountered.
Soon, we became affectionately known as the "Duck Lady" and "Duck Man." Our reputation grew, and we started receiving thank-you notes and heartwarming stories from passengers who found comfort and happiness in the small rubber ducks. Each duck represented a moment of joy and a reminder of the kindness we want to share, encouraging others to do the same.
Our enthusiasm for distributing ducks became a beacon of positivity. We continued to spread cheer, lifting the spirits of passengers and creating a sense of unity on board. Our actions inspired others to join in, turning ordinary voyages into unforgettable celebrations of kindness and community.
But our love for the ocean and our unique tradition of rubber duck distribution didn't stop at sea. We also carried our motto, "Never leave home without a duck," onto land. Wherever we are, we hand out ducks to strangers, bringing unexpected smiles to people's faces and creating moments of connection.
So why do we literally have thousands of rubber ducks? Each duck represents a potential smile, a moment of happiness, and a chance to connect with someone new. Our story is a beautiful reminder that small acts of kindness can have a profound impact. Our adventurous spirit and dedication to spreading joy have left a lasting legacy in the cruising community and beyond. Our journey continues, one duck at a time, as we sail the ocean blue or in our community, sharing happiness with everyone we meet.
